Length: 5.4 miles total. On-road segment with bike lanes striped on Promenade Street and Kinsley Ave. (now called Providence Place) with bike route signs directing cyclists to Donigian Park on Valley Street and Riverside Park on Aleppo Street. The 3.5-mile off-road segment begins at Riverside Park and extends to Lyman Avenue in Johnston. A quarter-mile spur within the Button Hole Golf Course property in Johnston is done, as is a neighborhood spur to Manton Avenue.
Grade: Flat with one big hill just west of Riverside Park. Steep grade on spur to Manton Avenue.
Trail condition: Excellent to good. On-road routes need restriping.
Special characteristics: This path will feature on-road and off-road sections to connect Johnston to downtown Providence. Path begins behind Providence Place mall, close to Waterplace Park and Riverwalk. It passes through many areas of Providence that are experiencing major redevelopment with mill conversions for retail, offices and residences.
Natural attractions nearby: River views, small parks, man-made river basin.
Historical attractions nearby: State House, numerous old mill buildings, 19th and 20th century architecture in Providence, 18th century homes nearby on East Side, museums, art galleries.
Services nearby: Major metropolitain area - all manner of shops, restaurants, schools, colleges, libraries.
Directions: From Route 95, take Exit 22 and follow signs to Providence Place. Parking is mostly on-street. See map for directions to Aleppo Street and Lyman Avenue parking lots.
