Warwick City Park (Buttonwoods) Bike Path
Length: 3 miles off road, with low-traffic park roads offering additional distance
Grade: Rolling in first half, generally flat in second half.
Trail condition: Very good, trail recently resurfaced.
Special characteristics: This 3-mile bike path loops the perimeter of City Park in the Buttonwoods section of Warwick. Despite its short length, the path offers a fantastic ride, especially in the first mile as the path rises and falls along the edge of a salt water marsh. Take care as the path is narrower than most, and good brakes are in order. The path is one-way, however not all people heed this, so exercise caution.
Natural attractions nearby: Swimming, beach with boardwalk, playground, ball fields, wildlife observation, unpaved walking trails.
Historical attractions nearby: N/A.
Services nearby: Small sandwich and pizza shops in the immediate neighborhood. Park is located in a residential area.
Directions: From Route 95, take Exit 10 or 10A toward Apponaug. Follow Rte. 117 East to intersection with Buttonwoods Avenue (1 mile from rail underpass). Take a right and follow 1/2 mile to a left onto Asylum Road. Follow to park entrance. Parking is available in small lot on left. If full, proceed straight down park road to ball fields or beach area. Warwick. Numerous parking options.
