2002 Meet the Greenway Series

In 2002, GARI successfully completed a 10-month tour of Rhode Island, exploring the state's greenways. We covered all existing and future ECGA sections, from the Connecticut border to the Massachusetts border, from February to November.

June - September

June

In celebration of National Trails Day we gave a Golden Spike award to former Cranston Mayor John O'Leary in recognition of completion of the bike path through Cranston. We had a great turnout and great weather and helped dedicate a new handicap ramp to the bike path, a project spearheaded by the Oaklawn Village Association

July

We had fantastic weather following a nasty heat wave for this ride down the upper half of the East Bay Bike Path. The Friends of India Point Park were on hand to talk about the park's future and DOT Bicycle Coordinator Steve Church talked about plans to build a major bike path out of a section of the eastbound span of the Washington Bridge (I-195) sometime in 2007.

August

A ride on the southern section of the East Bay Bike Path from Warren to Bristol. We also rode to Mount Hope Farm and visited the R.I. Audubon Society's new boardwalk which bisects the bike path in Bristol.
