2002 Meet the Greenway Series

In 2002, GARI successfully completed a 10-month tour of Rhode Island, exploring the state's greenways. We covered all existing and future ECGA sections, from the Connecticut border to the Massachusetts border, from February to November.

February - May

February

We planned a cross-country ski from the village of Greene in western Coventry to the Connecticut. After one postponement due to lack of snow, we chose to hike the 8 km distance instead. Hopefully next year we'll get more snow and can try it again!

March

This roughly 6 mile hike covered the Trestle Trail and the North-South Trail, through the Nicholas Farm Management Area. The crowds keep growing!

This day featured rides on the Coventry Greenway, both finished and unfinished portions. People also walked the trails of the Whipple Conservation Area, a new passive recreation area in eastern Coventry.

May

This great event featured walks on the new West Warwick Greenway and great chowder and clam cakes by the Friends of the West Warwick Greenway. The greatest turnout so far this year (even though we only have one picture to show you). Walkers and riders also explored unfinished sections of bike path west toward Coventry and east toward the Warwick Greenway and Cranston Bike Path.
